According to legend, St Estelle was the daughter of an illustrious Roman and descended from a powerful family of Druids. She was baptized as a Christian by St Eutropius who was bishop at that time in Gaul. Her father was so enraged by his daughter’s conversion to Christianity that he had both her and St Eutropius killed. St Estelle is the patron saint of young Christian girls and her feast day is celebrated on 11 May. Her name means “star” and her patron is the Blessed Virgin, Star of the Sea.
Jesus said: “Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” (Matt 10:39)
